2. EXT. GARDEN – NIGHT.
DETECTIVE KANE V.O.
Richard Pauling is a successful business man; he has his own car dealership, working his way from the bottom to the top. He has his own family that love him dearly. His colleagues see him as a good boss, the big cheese, however there is a dark side to him. Not even a side that his family knew about. After gambling once with his friends he got hooked, loosing lots of money and then doing anything possible to get the money back. Absolutely everything.
A house comes into view. It’s big and vast, with a driveway and gates, the garden expands to the side of the driveway and through a wall we see a pool.
A man is walking through his garden/driveway late at night to get to his door; he is being followed (he doesn’t know). He tries to place his key in the door; he keeps missing it as he has been out drinking. He tries on many occasions, he drops the keys. He bends down to pick them up when someone hits him over the head, repeatedly. As the attacker turns to move away something falls on the floor.
3. INT. HOUSE – DAY.
A women walks down the stairs, a worried look on her face.
JANE PAULING
(Searching the house) Richard? Are you down here? Rich? Richard?
After not being able to find Richard in the house, she opens the front door. Her hands fly to her mouth as she screams. Camera pans down to see her dead husband on the door step.
4. INT. HOUSE – DAY.
Jane and her two daughters are sitting on the sofa; they are crying and comforting each other. There is a knock at the front door, Jane gets up and opens it. A man in a suit walks in, smiles at the girls huddled on the sofa. He sticks a hand out too Jane.
DETECTIVE KANE
Hello Mrs. Pauling. I am detective Charlie Kane, i am here to, talk to you about, particular things.
JANE PAULING
Of course, girls, can you go upstairs for me.
The girls go upstairs. Jane turns to talk to the detective.
The two sit down on the sofa beginning to talk.
